Students,
I thought we had a great class today. Your writing responses to Mary's story were so well done. I was proud of all of you.
I was not too surprised by your answers on the Truth Quiz, LOL! I will post some stats from your answers within a few days.
Get your interviews done!!!
I think you are all great students, and I am very thankful to have this opportunity to get to know you and be a part of your school year.

I have a interview meeting with a photojournalist that works for the Lebanon Demecrat on Monday.
It was the only day that was convenient for both of us.
Also, I'm going to talk to the guy that is the editor of the newspaper, and then he is going to give me an assignment to do for photojounalism.

Hey this BLAIR!!!! so i'm kinda having a hard time thinking of questions to ask my interviewees. Any suggestions??
ok nevermind i just thought of some questions. haha but thanks anyway!
Hi Blair!
Remember what we have talked about regarding the content of your paper. You want to know about your interviewees' education--that can include their formal education along with any other sort of job training they might have.
You want to know what kind of money they make, and since that can be sort of a weird thing to ask an adult, approach it by saying, "What kind of money can a coach expect to make in her first job after college?"
You want to know what a typical day is like, so ask. What are the daily responsibilities of a coach? Are there parts of the job that you really weren't expecting? What is your favorite thing about your job?
Remember that we are also writing about the potential for ministry opportunities within the career that you choose. If you are interviewing Christians, and I know for certain that James is a Christian, then ask in what way are you able to share Christ in your job? His answer will be interesting since he is in a public school. He probably can't share verbally as much because of government restrictions; he has to share in non-verbal ways. But I don't know--ask about that. :)Another thing you might want to ask him about is safety in today's schools, what with all the school shootings, etc. Has he ever been concerned as a coach about one of his players being a target? How involved does he get with his students? Where do you draw the line when you are concerned about a kid?
I think things like that would be interesting about the job. What do you think?
Wow I think Mrs. Rebecca just got the prize for the longest comment...ever! haha That helps! Thanks!
OMJ! DID MRS. POWELL JUST SAY LOL!??! i'm so proud! haha ok so i'm writing george plaster back to see if i missed an email, then i'm going to try to think of a third person.. do you have anyone else?
love ya!
Whitney! I am so excited about the opportunity you are getting from the guy at the newspaper! Way to go!
Jen, check the sports page of the Tennessean and email one of their writers. They usually have their email in their by-lines. That's not broadcast journalism, but you could still get some info by asking them what they prefer about sports news writing as compared to broadcast journalism.
Do it today so they will have time to respond. In fact, I would include the questions with the email. Let them know when you have to turn in your assignment. People who work for newspapers are well-acquainted with seemingly impossible deadlines!
