Interviews, etc.

Hello Students,

I realize that several of you still do not have your interview summaries completed. If you turn them in on Tuesday, you will receive a late grade. If you don't have them Tuesday, you won't have a grade.

Interview summaries will combine for a total of 100 points, or 33.3 points each. Deduct 25% if you turn it in late. So, if you gave me one last Tuesday, then you got 33.3 points for that one. If you turn in the other two this coming Tuesday, you will get 25% off of 66.7, or 50 points. That will leave you with an 83.3 for your grade. Get the picture?

If you have someone who is not responding, find someone else. I'm afraid that many of you waited until the very last minute. Some of you I gave names to several weeks ago, and you still waited until the last minute to contact those folks. Your interviewees do not have a paper due--you do. You are imposing on them for this information, and they are being gracious to give it to you. If someone is not responding, find someone else.

I have to admit I was disappointed last Tuesday when so many of you were not prepared. I really don't know what to say or do regarding your procrastination, indifference, laziness, or whatever you want to call it, at this point. It says a couple of things to me. First, it makes me believe that you are not taking the class seriously. I know people have been sick; I was sick, too, but you got an extra week for these interviews. Second, it makes me wonder about your commitment to yourself. You are researching a career you would like to have. You are doing this for your own information and your own benefit. I could have had you all do research papers on things I like, such as the history of baseball, the book of James, The Brady Bunch, or 80s politics and pop culture. However, this paper is about you.

This Tuesday, you are to come to class with any summaries that you didn't have last week, and all of your note cards and copies IN HAND (that means you have them with you), for a grade.

Questions? Let me know.
