This week in class we will be enjoying a lesson on COMMAS. I do try each year to make this as much fun as possible. Commas are one of my favorite things! Knowing how to use them properly will make all the difference in your writing.
Remember to come to class with THREE papers:
- Your "just write" paper --the first paragraph you wrote on the movie you selected
- Your first draft of the paragraph
- Your second draft of the paragraph

Hey Mrs. Powell you added an “e” on the end of select.
Do all of the drafts have to be 100-200 words or only the 1st and 2nd drafts?
Lauren Hunter
Daniel,
Good eye! Thanks! And you will get five extra points (see "sweet deal" in the sidebar)!
Lauren,
You need to shoot for that in your first and second drafts.
Your "just write" paper with all your brainstorming on it needs to be where you just write everything you can think of about the topic. You don't need to be concerned about any kind of word count when you do that.
Mrs. P
How should we title our drafts? Do we just give the title of the movie and our name? I also would like to know if we need to include the word count for each draft?
Lauren H.
Hi Lauren,
If you want to title it you may. Since I didn't mention anything last Tuesday about titling your drafts, it will not be required.
Yes, please include the word count!
Mrs. P
