Hello Students,
According to the sentences you brought in today, these are a few of the elements you want to read in a good sentence:
Powerful words. Words that make you feel something bigger than yourself and descriptions that take the reader straight into the author's mind are a key to good writing.
A definite tone. Everyone liked the quote from Mere Christianity that Daniel brought in. C. S. Lewis had a way of conveying his attitude in his writing.
Humor. Who can argue with the fact that a little humor goes a long way in good writing?
These are just a few elements. We will find out more as we progress through this semester!
If you have questions through the week as you are working on your paragraph, please post them here, or send me an email.

Ha ha!
It apparently has to be green at the top for the comment to publish. I have out-fooled the blog. Woot! That is quite all i have to say :)
Hey! This is none other than Logan Vaughan, for you who don't know the infamous LoVizzle. I just want to give you newbies to the class some advice on the blog. Since I took Basics and Beyond last year and am now in the Advanced class, I know my stuff, so listen up. The easiest way to do well in this class is to do your work early and have a good attitude. You must go above and beyond to achieve the grades you want. I'll warn you, this class will have a lot of homework, but it's really fun if you have a good attitude. You'll feel so, so proud of yourself when you get that A grade. I know I did!
Oh, and when it comes to the blog, comment a lot. And don't just stop in and say "hi" and don't come back till next week, say something that has at least some meaning. If you look back at last year's blog's posts and comments, you'll probably see that Kay lo (Kayleigh Beasley) and LoVizzle (myself) commented a ton over the weeks. We commented so much that I wouldn't be surprised that if our combined comments were more than the whole class' combined comments last year. Would you like to guess who had the highest and tied for second highest grades? Kay lo and myself, respectfully. So, do your best and have fun!
PS, what was the Mere Christianity quote? That book is aspiring and amazing.
Hey!
I am having the hardest time picking my favorite movie. I have so many. See you guys next Tuesday.

Hey Mrs. Powell is it ok to have my second draft be like 230 words.
and LoVizzle the quote was:
"Even in Literature and Art, no man who bothers about originality will ever be original: whereas if you simply try to tell the truth (without caring twopence how many times it has been told before) you will, nine times out of ten, become original without ever having noticed it."
Hey! its danielle!
i liked class on tuesday. I loved the interaction, its my type of thing. :) hopefully my writing prompt turns out okay.
Daniel,
That's okay. Whoever does your critique will have to help you get the word count down. That's what the critiques are for!
Thanks for posting the quote for LoVizzle!
Mrs. P
Thanks, Danny. That's a cool quote. And don't worry, Mrs P, I'll stay on my own blogs from now on! LoV out.
i've done my two papers but oddly i ended with more on my 2nd draft. Is that ok?? Its like 336 words....
=)

Hi Amber,
Sure, that's okay with the draft. As I told Daniel, we will use the critiques to get that count down!
Mrs. P
hey i just wanted to share this quote from "Remember the Titans" see yall tuesday.
"This is where they fought the battle of Gettysburg. 50,000 men died right here on this field, fightin’ the same fight that we’re still fightin’ amongst ourselves… today. This green field right here was painted red. Bubbling with the blood of young boys. Smoke… and hot lead poring right through their bodies. Listen to their souls, men. 'I killed my brother with malice in my heart.' 'Hatred destroyed my family.' You listen… and take a lesson from the dead. If we don’t come together… right now, on this hallowed ground… then we, too, will be destroyed. Just like they were. I don’t care if you like each other or not, but you will respect each other, and maybe… I don’t know, maybe we’ll learn to play this game like men."
Okay..... The writing is going okay... I find myself writing as if i was writing a poem/portray! Thats the only hard part.
