NO MORE MR. NICE GUY

I had a favorite professor when I was in college. Dr. Ralph Hillman (he's the guy in the suit) taught in the Speech Department at MTSU, and he was fantastic! I minored in Speech and Theater, and I had the privilege of taking several of Dr. Hillman's classes, besides getting to know him and his family on a personal level. He made class such a blast! He was so funny, and he was interesting! Class was never boring, and it was because of him. He loved what he did, and he loved his students. However, around the middle of the semester, he would walk in with a little button pinned to his lapel. It read, "No More Mr. Nice Guy." And even though we students knew we were loved, we also knew that there were no more breaks, no more second chances, and there was no more leniency. There was no more Mr. Nice Guy.

Dear students--if I had a pin like that, I would be wearing it NOW.
You will see in the sidebar that I laid down the law concerning next week. Come to class with a completed draft. Period. That's it. Come to class prepared to have your work critiqued and prepared to critique a classmate's.
