Tomorrow!! Only a day away!

Students,

I'll be giving you a sheet tomorrow by which you will be offering a critique of a classmate's paper pretty much line by line. You will be examining the introductory paragraph: Does it have a hook? Does it have a thesis statement? Does it grab my attention? Does it set up the rest of the paper?

Then you will look at each of the three point paragraphs. Does each one have a topic sentence? Does the student support his/her points? Are there examples and evidence that make sense and go along with the ebb and flow of the paper? Does each sentence belong in the paragraph? Is it organized, or is the student not focused?

You'll also look at the conclusion. Does it look as though the writer got tired of writing and just cut it off? Or does it wrap everything up nicely?

You'll be looking for misspellings, typos, misuse of words, and just general goofs that your classmate might have missed.

You need to come to class tomorrow not only ready to have your paper critiqued, but ready to help another student by closely examining his/her paper. Let me put it this way:

"We're all in this together. Once we know that we are, we're all stars, and we see that."

PLEASE DO NOT SHOW UP WITHOUT YOUR PAPER.
