ENDNOTES ARE EASY

Here is how I want you to do your endnotes.

Let's say you are writing your paper and you use one of your direct quotes.

According to Jim Plowman, owner of JimBob's Chicken Fingers in Opelika, Alabama, the most important thing in life is not found in owning a successful business. He says, "The most important thing in life is found in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ."

At the end of that quote, click on
INSERT then
REFERENCE then
FOOTNOTE

A little box should pop up with the heading "Footnote and Endnote." You have several options to click here.

Choose:
Endnote (choosing this will automatically default to the choice "end of document")
Under "Number Format," choose the regular 1, 2, 3 numbers
Leave "Custom mark" blank.
Your default settings should be that you start at 1, numbering is continuous, and apply changes to whole document.
Then click on the INSERT button.

Voila! A little number one (1) has popped up at the end of your document. This is where you will put the details. In this case, it would look like this:

1 Plowman, Jim. Personal interview. 13 March 2008.

Questions? Please ask.

Pardon me, students, but I must excuse myself for just a moment...

Trevor has commented twice...and it's causing me to get a little misty-eyed. (sniff!) Let me just go get a hanky and pull myself together...back in a minute...
