OUTLINES

Hello Students,

Here is a sample of a partial outline for the career of professional speaker, since no one chose that. I just began with "III" as though it is the third paragraph of my paper. Notice also how I inserted where I want to use one of my direct quotes.

III. Types of Speakers
A. Instructional
1. This speaker teaches people how to do something.
2. This speaker often works for a single corporation, instructing people in a certain department.
3. This speaker is good at taking something complicated and making it simple.

B. Motivational
1. A motivational speaker can freelance, often working for many different companies.
2. Zig Ziglar is a great example of a motivational speaker. (I will use the quote from Zig Ziglar's autobiography here.)
3. Motivational speakers can easily include a faith-based message, and they often do.

C. Sales-oriented
1. This speaker is often demonstrating a product she wants to sell.
a. Cookware
b. Cosmetics
2. A sales-oriented speaker must work harder to earn her audience's respect.
a. Audience will be suspicious of her motive.
i. Is money her motive?
ii. Does she truly believe in the merits of the product?
b. Audience will not buy the product without trusting her.

YES--you need your outlines to be this detailed. This is going to make your paper SO MUCH EASIER to write.

REMEMBER: You must bring your mid-term reports back to class on Tuesday, signed by a parent. Preferably, one of your own parents. :) I have emailed them, so they know that you need to do that, and hopefully they will remind you.
