Back to Class!

Hello Everybody!

I have certainly enjoyed this Christmas break, and I hope that you people have, as well. How have you been? Just pining away until it is time to go back to class? You poor things! Well, it won't be long now!

This semester you will be writing your research papers! When we meet on January 8th, we will be discussing how to pick a topic for your paper. The topic makes all the difference, students. If you don't pick something that is interesting to you, then it will be a very long semester, indeed. We will be approaching the research paper in a series of steps. My plan is to have you implement those steps week by week, so that you are constantly working toward the goal of completing your paper. It is not possible to write a research paper the night before it is due. I hear some of you arguing with me, so let me rephrase that: It is not possible to write a GOOD research paper the night before it is due.

Have you made any New Year's resolutions? How about these:

I resolve to work even harder in Mrs. Powell's class.
I resolve to get my writing homework completed long before Monday night.
I resolve to choose a topic for my research paper that is exciting and interesting!
I resolve to actually read the handouts I receive from Mrs. Powell.
