Finding People to Interview

Students,

If you have not prayed about your paper yet, please do so now. I've shared with you that I pray about everything I write! Words have life! Words have eternal significance! Working on a paper is a big responsibility, not only to your reader, but also to yourself. Make every word count, and begin by praying about it!

I want to share with you a quick story about when my daughter was writing her career paper last year. She also chose to write on careers in music. We were praying for some really cool people to interview, and it just so happened (of course, I don't believe it just so happened--I believe it was completely a God thing!) that we were having a special guest coming to lead worship at our church: David Meece! (I don't expect any of you to know who he is, because he is definitely from my era, so click on the link.) Anyway, she asked him if she could interview him as part of her research, and he graciously agreed. It was a great interview, and he gave her so much valuable information! This man has been in music and ministry for 30 years! He told her the kinds of things that have had a lasting influence, things she will always remember and use.

So how do you find your people?

Let's look back at Zoey and her paper. She came up with three people she would like to interview:

Jeff Deyo (He goes to her church.)
A guy who is on the worship staff at her church
Her dad, Neil, a professional songwriter

Those are three great resources, however, there is something missing in this group. Do you know what it is? Hmmm. Think. Can't guess? I will tell you:

All three of these resources are men. If Zoey wants to find out what it is like for a woman in this career field, then she needs to interview a woman. I know someone who is a female worship leader at a large church in Texas, so I'm going to help Zoey get that interview. Interviewing a woman will make a big difference in Zoey's research.

When you let me and others know what you are doing by commenting on the blog this week, we can work together as a team to help each other in getting the resource people you need to interview. All right--now say a prayer and get to work!

Hey Mrs. Powell!^_^

I just wanted to share my first source with every one because I'm really excited about it!

The drama teacher from Harpeth Hall is going to set up an interview with me in the next few weeks^_^

Harpeth Hall is an all girl school so I figured she would be a great source^_^

I just have to say that calling and asking for an interview was the most amazing experience for me!^_^
