For those of you who are doing an argumentative paper on whether or not the media's representation of beauty is harmful to women, I mentioned Tonya Ruiz yesterday and suggested her story might be helpful in making one of your points. Her website has lots of pictures, but it really does not have her story on it! However, you can find her story, in her own words, by clicking here to read her testimony.
As you work on your argumentative papers, and even when we do prompts in class, you may find a topic that interests you so much you want to do your research paper on it. This topic, the media's representation of beauty, could easily be a research paper. Keep in mind that for the purposes of your current paper, you are limited to a count of 500-550 words. Make sure each point is focused, and don't get carried away. If you really find a lot of information that interests you, keep this in mind for next semester's research paper.
