By the time you read this, you will have recovered from your test, and I will have my speaking engagement behind me. (Whew!) I pray that all of us did quite well! By now I am breathing in the ocean air, reading a novel, and digging my toes in the sand. Ahhhh!
In the virtual world, however, I'm here with you! :) Let's talk about the upcoming debate.
Here is the definition of dating that will be debated:
dating -- pursuing a romantic relationship with a member of the opposite sex for the purpose of being physically affectionate, having fun, and getting to know the other person. Marriage is not an immediate option because neither party is of marriageable age. Pursuit of said relationship is halted when the romantic feelings disappear. Dating resumes when romantic feelings are next discovered.
Here are the points that will be debated in our round table discussion:
DATING is/is not essential for finding the right person.
DATING does/does not distract a Christian from focusing on God.
The physical component of DATING is/is not harmful to one's future marriage relationship.
The temporary aspect of DATING does/does not encourage healthy self-esteem.
DATING prepares one for marriage or DATING prepares one for divorce.
GRADING: Will you be graded on the Great Date Debate 08? Absolutely! You will receive a grade based on:
- Your participation
- Your respect for others
- Your ability to articulate your point of view

In the Great Date Debate, do I have to really pick a side, or can I ride the fence and just pick and choose the points I want to agree with?
