ORAL PRESENTATIONS

Students,

Next Tuesday, March 17 (Judgment Day), you will be giving your oral presentations during class. You will need a Maxwell (a SEPARATE COPY) of what you are going to present. Do not expect to read from your research paper. You will be turning those in first thing.

In order to have time for each person to present his/her paper, you will be reading:
  • Your introduction (section I)
  • A section of your choice
  • Your conclusion (section II)
This will be so much fun! Remember, in our class, everyone supports each other. It is a safe place and a great environment for you. Get excited about this! I can't wait to hear you!

IMPORTANT TIPS:

You need to read over your presentation at least 5 or 6 times, OUT LOUD, before next Tuesday. I don't expect you to memorize it, but I want to know you are familiar with it.

When you practice, plan for pauses where you can look at your audience. Mark these on your Maxwell.

Practice in front of a mirror. Try to look as though you are enjoying it, and not as though you are in pain.

Practice in front of others. Ask people to tell you if you are doing anything weird when you talk, such as fiddling with your hair or constantly clearing your throat.

Speak loudly and clearly. Your teacher has noticed she is constantly having to turn up the volume on various electronic devices in order to hear. If I give you a "thumbs up" that is not my way of telling you "good job." That is my way of turning up your volume. :)

I'm kind-of excited about doing this. I don't like reading to others, so this should be a good challenge for me. But, I'm not really dreading it. Hopefully it will all go well! :)

I think this'll be awesome, too! I think it'll be interesting to hear what the other students have written. Btw, Summey was GREAT!!!
